Loads a Love...

in card form that is! Just arrived today, my 43 vintage valentine card lot that I won off ebay, yay! I'm going to re-mount these and package them with envelopes to sell in Frock Shop. I will post pictures of the finished products here soon!

Hee Hee Hee...

One thing I will quickly write about (and giggle secretly inside) is this fantastic 5 pound box full of vintage wrapping paper that I found at an estate sale this weekend. It was this great old Nordstrom box that just said $5 for the box. I was so excited when I opened it up, I literally snached it to my chest and ran to the cashier. I havn't even had a chance to go through all of it, but there are so many cute ones in there. Some will be made into cards, some sold as a whole sheet in my shop and some I'm going to keep for myself...

Also, have a look at the write up for the shop in the NW Source shopping site: http://www.nwsource.com/shopping/

My link for Frock Shop is right in the middle of the page, double Yay!

Edmonds is Cute!

Ok, can anyone tell me how to do the "blog this" from flickr to your blog without the picture coming in small and in a weird position?

Well, here is a picture of Jason in Edmonds. It's a cute little town just north of Seattle, right on the water. We went up north to go to the Antique Mall on 99 and since neither of us has been to Edmonds, we decided to take a little look-see. It was really cute! They were having a festival and it seemed that every shop was having a sale. We didn't get much except for tired walking around all day looking at things (especially after having some strong $3 cape cods at the local cantina). I recommend it as a fun day out, lots of antique malls and cute little shops and eateries.

I snuck a picture of these guys at an antique mall, some fun vintage christmas:

Bought on Holiday in BC...

I found some great books and patterns on our drive through Vancouver Island. Luckily Jason will do a U-turn on the highway to go to a Salvation Army (that's how you know you've met the right man). I've put the patterns up onto Flickr, for a better look and am listing them on ebay tonight. For the books I will put some of the images up soon...

I found this great kelly green leather trench in a second hand shop in Ucluelet ( a very small fishing village). I'm sure the shop keeper was sure he'd have this coat forever as most of the people that come to the town are hiking, fishing, surfing etc. But he lucked out! It was just what I've been looking for! Yipee, now can't wait for winter...

Man! this green coat is making me wish for winter! I'm going to wear it with a huge fake leopard print fur muffler, some thick turqoise tights and some great burgundy boots, woo!

Gnome Shopping...

So, yesterday, to procrastinate, I went on a huge hunt for a garden gnome for Father's day. I found a few, but they were so expensive!

Blue_c_sushi_ladies_room_1  My journey took me through the junk shops in Fremont, stopping for conveyor belt sushi at Blue C . I had to take a picture of the wall in the ladies room. Great pictures from the Fruits book encased in acid green plastic. I got busted trying to take a picture of the hallway :)

Greenwood_space_travel_supply_co  I headed up to Greenwood for some junk shops and the Hancock Fabrics that is going out of business. (I had to snag a picture of the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co shop, it's my favorite shop I've never been in.) I bought thread, zippers and essentials at the Hancock, no new fabrics. Next door to the fabric store is a great thrift store where I got some yarn, fabric & vintage patterns super cheap.

I also found two new friends for black kitty card holder...

They may have a new friend if everything goes well on ebay today :) ok, now back to making cushions ;)

Saturday's Booty

Today was a pretty good day for Estate and Garage sales. It was such a gorgeous day to drive around, except that I drive an old '72 Mustang, which is like a furnace! Here are some of the goodies that I got on my travels today.

The best things really come from estate sales, which I got to one today. I feel as though I'm giving new life to a lady's fabric and sewing collection after she has passed away. Sewing was such an important pass time for an older generation, it's brilliant that it is making such a come back. (Check out the mod hankies :)

Oh! and my new hat for Naomi's bridal shower tea party tomorrow. I am making bridal shaped cut out cookies for the party, will post on those Monday :)

Hi, weird little 70's crafts...

Leewards

Our road trip to Montana last week gave me the opportunity to indulge in a favorite hobby, buying 70's craft books.

Afghans

I got a stack of them at the Goodwill in Missoula for 10 cents each.

We hit a few antique malls and groovy little junk shops, I bought loads of 50's dress patterns, a stack of vintage wrapping paper (really great prints!), funky mushroom decals and a few pieces of vintage fabric. Such great inspiration from the 70's, craft was so huge then as it is becoming more now. My knitting skills are limited to scarves and well things made from squares of knitting, but I have recently tried my hand at crochet. I started with rosettes which are good fun, but with all these 70's crochet books I wanted to try something a bit more adventurous. I crocheted this little hat and flower in the car ride from Seattle to Missoula MT.

Most of the way is to winding too look away from the road, but a long stretch through Eastern Washington is very flat, so perfect for not getting car sick. I'm going to try for some abstract flower scarves to sell in the wintertime. We have another road trip in July, so I'll be bringing my huge bag of yarn with us!
