finished for Frock Shop and for Hitchcock. Here are a couple of pictures of them in my shop. For Hitchcock I've done 3 men's and 3 women's cabbies in mixed tweeds, so cute!
A fun write up from Seattle Chic HERE , Thanks Kate!
Two cute cabbie hats finished for Hitchcock Accessories shop in the Madrona area of Seattle. 4 more to go next week, 3 will be big enough to fit a guy. (Maybe I will make an extra boy one for my sweetheart :) Styles like these will also be available in my Frock Shop by next week (hopefully!).
I'm also a Card Making Fool this week! I'm working on getting as many Christmas and Holiday cards made up while in the shop as I can. Glue, glitter, ribbon & paper are everywhere on my counter while my lovely customers try to check out :) I just think it makes everything just a bit more festive! Here are a few that I finished yesterday, all the cards and tags for the shop are made from vintage wrapping paper and vintage ribbon. My friend Carrie (from Fickle Fanny) gave me a ginormous bag of vintage ribbon that I have been pawing through to decorate these little yummies. My favorite so far, that I don't think they even make anymore, is the sticky back cord, braid and ribbon. You just cut to size, pull of the plastic backing and stick down, so easy!! Love it!
I made more of these kitties too:
Meow!
just in time for this freezing weather!
I'm working on some tweed/wool cabbie hats for my shop and a new accessories shop over in Madrona called Hitchcock. Pictures soon! Hats available to order, email me at contact@suzyfairchild.com
today for a customer, a funky computer bag. I do the sewing at home and any hand work I do at the shop. The outside fabric was supplied by the customer and I complimented it with a durable cotton twill and all lined in a double batting to protect the computer.
Also finished last week these funky animal sweater knit bags for the shop:>
made yesterday for my shop. I have loads of vintage wrapping paper which will be for sale or made into cute little cards and tags. After the shop is open I will be making the website into a web store, www.shopfrockshop.com
I finished a couple of new Fall bags for Donna's shop, Presence, and delivered them on Tuesday...
Now, I'm going to be concentrating on making up some new bags for my new shop! I have finished the Halloween opening invite that will run in the paper and online, as well as received my business cards and the labels for my clothing line for the shop. My friend Jen, who I worked with in the design dept at Nordstrom is helping me with making/grading patterns and doing a lot of sewing. The line will be very small to start with, 3 skirt styles, one dress and one jacket (avail S,M,L) I'm eventually I'm planning to wholesale it, but that won't be for a couple of years. The rest of the collection is from contemporary designers bought at market and local designers from Seattle and Vancouver BC. I will be writing more about the shop once it is up and running, with before and after remodel pictures. It is full of ladders and spackle at the moment. Also pictures of great new items that come in. You can check out the new invite at www.shopfrockshop.com
More soon...
These are just finished clutch bags for Fall/ Holiday! They are going to Presence on Capitol Hill, I have also cut out a collection to make up for my own shop. I will be making this style in leather as well. It's crazy right now trying to balance working on bags and projects with opening the shop. My mother says that I don't have to do everything right now, but I just want to, so there :)
Here is a picture of the bag open, it has a mechanical spring open:
Also, here is the new business card/logo for my shop Frock Shop. The opening day is planned for October 26th with the party on October 28th. I'm working overtime to source all the super cute things to be in the shop for the opening. Super exciting!
Yay! I'm such a girly girl :)
for Noami! This morning I finished my friend Naomi's gorgeous new handbag she ordered. She picked out the body fabrics and I married it with a brown corduroy (which she loves!) as the accent color.
She wears these colors a lot and I think they will go with everything. Also, its a great trasitional bag from Summer to Winter. I have more fabrics like these is many colors, if you are interested in having a bag specially made, shoot me an email. contact@suzyfairchild.com
Also (very excited!) this evening I have picked up my key for my very own shop! It will be located on Phinney Ridge in Seattle and will be called Frock Shop . I am hoping to have a soft opening for Halloween and a grand opening in Spring with a full stock of fresh Spring Fashion from market. It's going to be a great ladies dress shop with contemporary designer labels, independant fashion labels and vintage jewelry. I am designing a private label for the shop as well as selling my handbags. So, lots of work in the next few weeks! If you (or you know someone) who is an idependant designer of lovely ladies clothing (think anthropologie) I would love to see your line. Please send me an email with a link to your website. Thanks!! Will post more updates
soon!
