My first baby turned 5 last week! Of course the princess needed a princess party. Which meant one thing, the doll with a dress made of cake, cake!
I have always wanted [to make] one of those cakes. And not just a doll body with a stick stuck in, but a whole doll crammed into a giant cake. Luckily, found at the grocery store, they make real Cinderella dolls. I was expecting to have to dress up a Barbie. Getting over my aversion to blue food, I went crazy with the blue frosting and decorated with white icing from a spray can. I know, that sounds gross, but it you need to decorate a whole cake easy and fast, the spray icing in a can is the way to go! One bunt cake and two rounds, then one cupcake cut in half to fill in around the doll (whos legs were wrapped in plastic wrap) built up the cake high enough to cover. It also gave a good gown shape.
Of course it was a huge hit with Princess Sadie and she had the real doll to play with afterwards (shoes still on).
Sadie had the wonderful idea of being Tinkerbell in the Winter Woods for Halloween. To whip this out for minimum cost and little time invested, I decided to recycle some items I found on Ebay. Our inspiration:
Halloween : Win!
