I have been obsessed with finding vintage Fisher Price toys for my babes. We have the Circus Train with animals that was mine as a child, the Cash Register, the Stove Top and most recently the Village! Bought for $3.50 at a thrift shop! Man, Sadie loves it. Mainly I think for the cars...
photo courtesty of Etsy...ours didn't come with people, but we have a dog.
It's hard to even know where to start this update about my sweet Sadie. She turned 18 months at the end of April, which is mind boggling considering I still have baby weight to loose.
She is amazing, shockingly beautiful with enormous blue eyes... and Huge! Off the chart huge for height and head measurements. People started asking me if she was 2 years old when she was 14 months. I think that's also due to her great communication. Last month we started a list of all the words she knows and it's up to 112! Yesterday we added "Shampoo" and today, "People"! In March she started saying "Yeah" to answer yes, and just recently she has started saying "No". It is so sweet and makes it so much easier for us to understand her needs. She is crazy about counting and most of the time is sounds like a list of vowels, Aee, Eee, Oh, Aee... but suddenly she is adding two, three, four and five in there. So exciting! I swear it's all thanks to Elmo.
Sadie would live at the park (which she calls "Weee!") if she could. She is now an expert at climbing up and sliding down on her own. She is still very shy and keeps her distance from other kids. I don't blame her with all the pushing that goes on! We are lucky to be blocks from the zoo and get there as often as we can. There was a big ta-do here in Seattle about the Meerkats coming to the zoo, so of course we had to check it out. They were very small and so was their enclosure, quite the opposite of the enormous billboards advertising them around town. Fun to watch though. I swear her favorite exhibit is the display of different animal eggs in the family farm. Not animals... wooden eggs.
She is crazy for coloring and fills page after page of huge swirly colors that she says are cats, family members, bees and flies. She is also crazy for cars, trucks, tractors, buses and the color pink. I'm trying to think of a way to combine all these things (and Elmo) as a theme for her 2nd birthday party. It's going to be something like a party at a playground/park with Elmo on a pink tractor cake...hmmm
We've gone to 3 'big kid' (4years & 5) parties this year so far. So fun, but a little overwhelming for our gal. All was made ok by getting to have cake and juice. Now when we mention birthday parties she says "Num" associating them pretty much just with cake. The last one she got to have her first Popsicle "Pop!", a pretty big deal. There was also a lot of glitter & sequins, which is always a plus.
Meal times are still a bit tricky with Sadie only liking to eat certain things. She will always eat avocado, eggs, oatmeal, bananas and peas. But is very reluctant to try new things unless we are out shopping and it's served on a toothpick. Then she would try anything. I actually pull a toothpick out if she just isn't eating a thing, pop, hors d'oeuvres.
Bedtime is still totally awesome with Sadie sleeping up to 13 hours a night and a two hour nap in the afternoon. She so loves to sleep that she will tell us "Nigh Nigh" at 8pm right on the mark. Of course everyone says that the next baby, when we have one, will be the worst sleeper ever because Sadie so rocks the sleeping.
She had her 18 month appt which meant lots of shots :( and sore leg muscles from the shots for 2 days! She could barely walk without crying, totally tramatized us both. She did get to have her first lollypop (another "Pop"!) So, it seems as a child trama is off set by yummy sweet treats. Mama didn't have a pop and is still tramatized from the shots.
So, it all boils down to Sadie is a genius and a darling, my inspiration and my love. (I even love the little tantrums she has when I don't let her stand on the furniture :)
