Bought on Holiday in BC...

I found some great books and patterns on our drive through Vancouver Island. Luckily Jason will do a U-turn on the highway to go to a Salvation Army (that's how you know you've met the right man). I've put the patterns up onto Flickr, for a better look and am listing them on ebay tonight. For the books I will put some of the images up soon...

I found this great kelly green leather trench in a second hand shop in Ucluelet ( a very small fishing village). I'm sure the shop keeper was sure he'd have this coat forever as most of the people that come to the town are hiking, fishing, surfing etc. But he lucked out! It was just what I've been looking for! Yipee, now can't wait for winter...

Man! this green coat is making me wish for winter! I'm going to wear it with a huge fake leopard print fur muffler, some thick turqoise tights and some great burgundy boots, woo!

Back from our Holiday...

In Ucluelet, BC. On the west coast of Vancouver Island. It was so amazingly beautiful! It's about a five hour drive and a ferry ride to get there. Jason meets up with family friends every year to fish for huge halibut and salmon. We stayed at the Terrace Beach Resort, which was like a tree house on stilts. They also have cabins, but we couldn't afford them this year. Funnily enough the resort is owned by Jason Priestley of 90210 fame, I didn't realize this until after we made the reservations, didn't run into him though!

The days that Jason was fishing I walked to the little town and found some neat things and people. I met this lovely lady who dyes and spins her own yarn. Its a sheeps hair that is very curly, it took me for ages to pick out the color I wanted and she kindly let me take a picture of her in her very interesting shop. It looked as though everything had washed up from the sea.

This is my view from while I knit and wait for the guys to come back to the dock.

The lady in the shop was kind enough to give me some odd knitting needles. I have since ripped the knitting apart and have started crocheting the yarn in long strips of color. I was loosing the texture of the yarn in the super tight knit. I want to also try and do some weaving and stitching experiments with it. I also found a kelly green leather trenchcoat in a second hand shop in town. It was a surprise since it's mostly a hiking, fishing, camping crowd. I was planning on getting a lot more projects done while on holiday, but I just ended up relaxing which I guess is what you're supposed to do :)

Yay! Write up...

This sweet write up has come out in the new July issue of the Seattle Metropolitain magazine. I was very excited last night when Jason and I went to our little corner market for late night veggie wings and blue cheese dressing, to open up this new issue and see my bag! Super pleased!

The only weird thing is that it's in the medical issue, with lots of articles about doctors. Oh well, at least it's in!
