Spontaneous, mid week, one night camping trip with a 22 month old, yes it sounds crazy and yes it was a bit. I really needed to get over my fear of Sadie sleeping away from home, she is such a good sleeper and loves her bed/routine that it's taken me this long to just bite the bullet and try something new. So, we tried the most challenging and the sleeping was a breeze! What got me camping with a toddler was the dirt! You just can't keep them clean! Anything and everything will fall in the dirt and the dirt will stick. We camped right next to a little river, which was lovely. Sadie wanted to walk down to the river and back up to the camp around 100 times, also in to and out of the tent was great fun, which meant shoes on and off to keep the dirt down. Sadie just had a blast! After we all had gone for a walk, down to the river heaps of times, played in the sand, with a ball and cooked our hot dogs it was still only 5:30 (What do we do now??) We did it all over again.
After Sadie went down, hubs and I sat in front of the fire with our PBRs and watched the bats dart about, phew, relaxing. Sadie slept her normal almost 12 hours like a log and I didn't sleep at all.
Tomorrow we drive 9 hours in the car with a toddler to Montana! Fingers Crossed!
